• The 8th Barrier-free Tourism Day will take place on Saturday 7. September in Orfű, from 10.00-16.00.
Venues: the Island at lake “Nagytó” (Pécsi tó), the Medvehagyma House, the sports camp, the kayak pier. On the opposite side of the lake the sailing pier is for motor boating, and the large parking lot at the old beach is for rally cars. And on the other side of the lake, the grassy area by the dam is driving for visually impaired people.
  • the INFOPOINT is the heart of the festival, so start here when you arrive. From 9.15 until the end of the event at 16.00, our professional volunteers will be waiting for you on the walkway leading to the Sports camp and the Medvehagyma House, near the main road. Here you can get all the information from our kind and trained volunteers about the programs, locations, assistance, bus departures…
  • You can park next to the mini-golf course by the Medvehagyma House, or in front of the municipality. There will also be space in the large car park at the old beach, but we are now offering a rally car experience there, so there will be a limited number of empty spaces.
  • If you are coming by bus, there are buses from Pécs at 6.15, 8.30, 10.30, 12.45, 14.30 from the main Bus Station, usually from bus stop 23. Get off at the “Orfű Községháza” bus stop. For special information on the accessibility of the buses, please contact the bus station in advance at the phone number +36 72 510992.
Return buses from Orfű to Pécs leave from the “Községháza” at 11.14, 12.44, 14.44, 17.19, 18.44 and lastly at 20.34.
  • Between the venues, the Orfű village bus will take you to the motorboat ride to the Sailing pier, the rally car ride to the former beach parking lot, and to the dam for driving. You have to register at the Infopoint.
  • Toilets are available in the following locations:
Accessible toilets and non-accessible toilets can be found at the following locations: the Medvehagyma House, the Sports camp, the market square in front of the Municipality, the Municipality building across the road (not far!).
Additional non-accessible toilets are available: at the kayak snack bar at the kayak pier (dragon boat launch point), and at the water sports base.
  • Lunch will be provided free of charge to participants with disabilities and their accompanying persons between 12.00-14.00. You will be able to eat lunch on the island. You can choose from the following menu: the volunteers from Orfű will cook a delicious bean goulash, Zoli Raffay will make fish soup this year, the staff of the Institute of Marketing and Tourism of the University of Pécs will treat us to a gypsy lecsó, and the Natúra Pension from Orfű will serve delicious vegetable pasta for non-meat-eaters. We also plan to serve a cauldron with “chicken-paprikás” or “pincepörkölt” (typical Hungarian dishes, all you need to know about them is that they are delicious 🙂 ). And of course there will be the Szeretetbüfé (Love Buffet) with snacks and good syrups, thanks to the kind volunteers of the Orfű municipality every year.
  • We will try to make the sites accessible, but there may still be some sites that you should be aware of that may require assistance for some of you. The bridge leading out to the island will also be covered now to make the road smooth. There will also be smooth paths on the island, but the island itself is a grassy area, so moving around with a manual wheelchair will definitely require assistance. Motorcyclists will be starting from the sports camp car park, there is a small pebbled area here, you will also need assistance. The walkway around Medvehagyma House and the lake is an accessible, flat surface. Access to the dragon boat and to the large car park (rally car) and the sailing pier is barrier-free. The driving area at the dam is grassy, bumpy and requires assistance. For visually impaired participants, volunteers will be happy to help you get anywhere during the festival, or even accompany you throughout the day, if you let us know in advance: akadalymentes.turizmus.nap@gmail.com
We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that there will be noisier areas of the festival, where music and cultural shows will cause louder noise. This will basically be the island, the parking lot of the sports camp for motorbikes and the large parking lot at the beach for rally cars. If you need some peace and quiet, we recommend the Medvehagyma House in the first place, or the Sailing pier, and fishing will be also a peaceful spot next to the Medvehagyma House.
  • You’ll recognise our volunteers by their white baseball caps with lettering. You can ask them for any help you need, and we’ll do our best.
